Product Description:
Conversion Phenolic Insulator Kit Large Port
Use this kit when fitting the Weber 40 IDA three barrel carburetors to the 3.0L fuel injected engines from the 1978-79 Porsche 911 SC. These engines have the larger, 39mm intake ports.
The intake ports on these cars have cutouts for the fuel injector, and the fuel injection intake gasket barely makes contact with the intake manifold, often resulting in an intake manifold leak. The same goes for the original carburetor intake gasket, which just barely covers the port.
Our adaptor phenolic spacers allow you to use the fuel injection gasket against the cylinder head and then use the correct carburetor intake manifold gasket against the intake manifold. This eliminates the possibility of un-metered air entering the engine, which would cause the engine to run lean. The insulators will also greatly reduce the carburetor and intake manifold temperatures, which will help stop fuel boiling off and vapor lock problems.
The insulators are 5m/m thick. The center hole diameter is 38mm, because most manifolds are 36-38 mm in diameter. The 38mm diameter of the insulator allows you to port match the heads, insulator, and manifold for a smooth transition if you wish to do so.
This kit includes 12 new nuts, 12 new washers, 6 intake gaskets, 6 manifold gaskets, and 6 conversion phenolic plates. Use your original intake studs.
